Redeeming Wyndham points for the best value
Your Wyndham points will have the best value when redeemed for free nights at Wyndham hotels and with their other lodging partners. Other redemptions will give your points lower value.
Free night awards
The best value you can obtain from Wyndham Points will be when you use them for free nights at various properties including Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, Wyndham Vacation Club, Vacasa vacation rentals, Cottages.com, and Landal Greenparks.
Wyndham Hotels & Resorts
Redeeming your points at Wyndham's standard hotel brands will give you around 0.6 per point on average.
Wyndham's reward redemptions are split up into two types called 'Go Free' and 'Go Fast'. Go Free awards are when you redeem your Wyndham Points to cover the entire cost of the room and Go Fast awards are when you use a mixture of points and cash (but mostly cash).
As with most other hotel brands, you will not know how much value you'll get out of your points without running the calculations first. When it came to comparing values for Wyndham properties, the costs in cash and the cost in points were all over the place with no real structure to the rewards system.
Caesars Entertainment
Wyndham Points can be redeemed for free nights at Caesars Entertainment properties starting at 15,000 points per night. These are best booked through the www.wyndhamhotels.com/caesars-entertainment page, but you can also search for them using the standard search in which they will appear along side Wyndham's other brands.
Wyndham Vacation Clubs
Redeeming your Wyndham Points at Wyndham Vacation Club properties will give you around 1 cent in value. These properties consist of the following destination brands:
- Club Wyndham
- Worldmark by Wyndham
- Margaritaville
- Shell Vacations Club
When searching on the Wyndham site, these brands will show up in the search results as normal. You can use the brand filter option to limit the list to just showing the Wyndham Vacation Club brand.
Wyndham Vacation Rentals
You can use your Wyndham Points towards vacation rentals via Vacasa. These consists of unique homes and condo-style resorts across the globe that are great for those looking to enjoy the luxuries of a home when away from home. This is also a great option for group vacations.
You will need to call in to Wyndham directly in order to redeem your points for Wyndham Vacation Rentals.
Cottages.com
Wyndham Points can be used to book properties at unique cottages in the UK, Ireland, France, and Italy with Cottages.com. You'll need to call in to book these properties using your points.
Landal GreenParks
Wyndham Points can be redeem at Landal GreenParks properties. These consist of bungalow parks in the heart of nature located in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Denmark, England, and Hungary. You'll need to call in to book these properties using your points.
Point transfers to partners
Wyndham Rewards Points can be transferred to a handful of travel partners at a rate of 6,000 Wyndham Points for 1,200 points or miles with the only exception being Caesars Entertainment which is 1,000 points for 1,000 points.
Converting points to airline miles isn't the best use of Wyndham Rewards Points, but it can be worth it if you're a few miles short of a redemption and need to top off your frequent flyer account.
Gift Cards
Wyndham Points can be redeemed for gift cards with over 100 different retailers starting at 7,500 points for a $25 gift card. The denominations offered for each retailer will vary, but most are in your standard $25, $50, and $100 denominations.
The only gift card that does not fall in line with the redemptions above is the Restaurant.com gift card which offers 1.13 cents in value due to costing 2,200 points for a $25 gift card.
Merchandise
You can use your Wyndham Points to purchase merchandise which includes brand name items ranging from coffee makers and handbags to chairs and Apple products. The value of your points will vary depending on what you're going for.
When testing various items, I got an average value of around 0.2 cents per point. That's not to say that there aren't some hidden gems buried in the many items available.
