Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards

Chase offers three Ultimate Rewards credit cards that allow you to transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Iberia. Every 1,000 Chase points you transfer from Chase's eligible Ultimate Rewards credit cards will give you 1,000 Iberia Avios.

One of the best benefits of Chase Ultimate Rewards credit cards is that you can easily redeem points for 1.25 to 1.5 cents each towards travel booked through the Chase Travel portal. This gives you an alternative way to get high value out of your rewards.

On top of that, Chase has top-notch travel insurance that can save you a headache (or at least more of a headache) when travel don't go according to plan. This benefit alone can be well worth picking up a Chase credit card.

Bilt Rewards credit cards

Bilt Rewards is most known for being able to earning points paying your rent and mortgage using the Bilt Mastercard — with no transaction fee! It's one of the best ways to earn a large sum of points transferable to Iberia and other programs for doing what you would normally do anyway.

In addition to that, you can also earn points spending locally at participating retailers. You can even earn status in the Bilt Rewards program based on your spending which can grant you a wide range of additional benefits!

Marriott Bonvoy credit cards

Marriott Bonvoy offers a handful of credit cards that you can use to earn points transferable to Iberia Plus. Marriott Bonvoy points can be transferred to Iberia Plus at a 3:1 rate meaning that every 3,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you convert will give you 1,000 Iberia Avios.

On top of that, you will also earn a bonus 5,000 Avios for every 60,000-block of Marriott Bonvoy points you transfer in a single transaction. So a 60,000-Marriott Bonvoy point transfer would give you 25,000 Iberia Avios which is pretty good.

If you frequently stay at Marriott hotels, it can be worth it to pick up one of Marriott's co-branded credit cards as they offer valuable benefits and the points can be very worthwhile if used right.

Avios-earning credit cards

Avios can be moved freely, at a 1:1 rate, between several Avios-earning programs: British Airways, Qatar, Iberia, and Finnair. This means that you can utilize co-branded credit cards and credit card transfer partners from all of these airlines to earn Iberia Avios — which pretty much opens up the floodgate of credit cards partners.

Capital One miles credit cards

Venture miles and Spark miles earned with Capital One credit cards cannot be transferred directly to Iberia, but they can be converted into British Airways Avios which can then be converted into Iberia Avios. This can all be done at a 1:1 ratio meaning that 1,000 Capital One miles will give you 1,000 Iberia Avios after both transfers have been completed.

Capital One credit cards earn rewards at a flat-rate across most purchases, so if you want to focus spending on one credit cards, it will be the best program for you. On top of that you can enjoy 0% foreign transaction fees and the ability to redeem miles for 1 cent towards any kind of travel — a great alternative in case you need to book another form of travel.

Citi ThankYou Rewards credit cards

Citi ThankYou Rewards points earned with the Citi Strata Premier Card or Citi Prestige Card (currently unavailable) can be converted into Iberia Avios, but it requires the most transfers.

You will need to:

  1. Transfer points from one the two eligible Citi ThankYou cards to Qatar Privilege Club
  2. Transfer the Avios from Qatar Privilege Club to British Airways Executive Club
  3. Transfer the Avios from British Airways to Iberia Plus

That's a total of three transfers, but it's all at a 1:1 ratio meaning you'll still receive 1,000 Iberia Avios for every 1,000 Citi points you transfer through the chain of programs.

Citi is a great program for earning rewards with their transfer partners due to the excellent unlimited 3X earning rates of the Citi Strata Premier Card. It pretty much carries the program on its back. Pair it with the Citi® Double Cash Card or any of Citi's other cards and you're good to go.

Year 1 or Year 2+?

Year 1 - Calculate how much you will earn in your first year of being a cardmember. Includes Intro Bonuses (if toggled on) and will use the free or reduced first year annual fees for any cards that have them.

Year 2+ - Calculate how much the card will be worth the 2nd year and onward. Automatically turns off intro bonuses and will ignore first year free/reduced annual fees.

Include Intro Bonuses?

If set to yes, intro bonuses will be included for a card's calculation ONLY IF you have met the monthly spend criteria based on what's entered into the tool.

Note: We do not have intro bonuses for all credit cards (mainly partners and popular credit cards), and we cannot calculate intro bonuses for some cards due to the complexity of some spend requirements.

Authorized Users

Some banks charge an additional fee to add family, friends, or employees to the credit card account. If you plan on adding authorized users to your credit card(s), you can enter that amount here.

Note: Some credit cards have a cap on how many authorized users you can add. While we do keep track of the fee structures, we do not keep track of caps. So be sure to check the rates and fees before applying.

Many cards will charge you a foreign transaction fee when making purchases in a foreign currency. This is typically between 2.5% and 3% for most credit cards.
