Earning Rates

The Platinum Card earns points at the following rates:

  • 2 points per $1 spent on dining and food delivery purchases in Canada.
  • 2 points per $1 spent on travel.
  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchase.
  • Earn 1 additional point per $1 spent on eligible hotel and car rental bookings through AMEX Travel Online.

Annual Fee

The Platinum Card has an annual fee of $799.

If you travel even a few times per year and can make use of the benefits of the card, you will easily make up for the fee. The $400 in annual credits makes it even easier to justify if you can use them.

Authorized User Fee

Adding additional Platinum Card's will cost $250 per card, per year. You can also add additional Gold Cards which will cost you $0 for the first two additional Gold Cards and then $50 per year for any additional Gold Cards.

Foreign Transaction Fee

The Platinum Card has a foreign transaction fee of 2.5%. This means you will be penalized when using the card to make purchases that are not in Canadian Dollars.
